Back to blogging!
Mon 5th October 2009 at 13:02
I can't believe I haven't posted a blog since September 23! I'm surprised I'm still able to log on here - I guess that means I still have a job.

Once we got to London - the internet service was basically non-existent. We did decide to buy the outrageously expensive 24 hour plan they had at the hotel, but it kept kicking us off the server and in the end we gave up and got our money back. We did have a quick skype session with Molly and then with Matt - so while I wasn't able to keep up with my blog, I did know that our kids were faring well.

By the time we got back to Orlando I had a severe case of bronchitis and quite honestly, I didn't even have the energy to write anything here. So, I might have some more pictures to share from London in the next few days . . . once I can find where Kevin has hidden them when he downloaded them.

In the meantime, I do have pictures from the Saturday morning Alzheimer's Memory Walk that Sing Live Orlando participated in at Lake Eola.

Thanks to Marcia for the great table set up and to Millie and Jessica for helping at the table.

Last days in the North
Wed 23rd September 2009 at 21:25
Yesterday, while our group was off to Harewood House, Kevin and I spent the day at the Sing Live UK office. It's just a bit different than our little office in Orlando and we had a great time working with everyone there although I think we distracted them and they were probably glad to see that we were not there this morning so that they could get their work done.

Then it was off to a rehearsal with Sing Live Northern at St. Bartholemew Church. Lots of music to go over before we get to the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday!

Wednesday morning found us on the bus heading to Haworth to see the Bronte museum.

The town there was beautiful and we did have some time to walk around and check out the lovely shops.

Then it was on to Skipton where some of us went to Skipton Castle and the rest went to Bizzie Lizzie's Fish and Chips. You can probably guess which group Kevin led! (He did say after Magpie's fish and chips on Monday night that he wasn't going to eat any more F&C because he couldn't find any that good - but by Wednesday he had obviously changed his mind!) Here's Kevin's plate before he did his damage.

Tomorrow morning we head to London where we will meet up with our 27 other Sing Live USA friends who are flying in.
Whitby

On Monday we traveled to the seaside town of Whitby. It was a beautifully cold and blustery day up on the hill where the Whitby Abbey overlooks the North Sea.

The bus took us back down into the town of Whitby for some time in Old Town and lots of shopping before we had the most delicious Fish and Chips in all of England (and quite possibly the best on the planet!) at the Magpie Cafe. Sorry, no pictures of the meal as that would have required that we stopped eating long enough to get the camera out and really - that was NOT happening! But I will let you know that John and Kevin were having an eating contest. They both ordered the extra large portion of Fish and Chips and absolutely cleaned their plates, but we declared John the winner as he also ate mushy peas and bread as well!

Day Two and Three in England
Mon 21st September 2009 at 21:00
Today finds us separated from the rest of the USA group here in England. Kevin and Dirk are teaching a workshop in Huddersfield. There over 125 people here. It's great to see so many familiar faces from our International Sing Live family! We did have an early start and when the alarm clock went off at 6:00 am, I tried my best not to think about the fact that it was 1:00 am at home - but somehow that thought kept creeping into my mind making it hard to feel very awake1

Then it was Kevin's turn and we did a little bit of Barbershop.

We were even lucky enough to have a guest quartet, Bianco, featuring Sing Live Central’s Bob Hodgkiss.

Kevin and Dirk did a little singing and a little clowning around!

The rest of our group spent the day in Liverpool seeing the sights there. I'll see if I can get a picture or two from one of them so you'll be able to see what they have been enjoying.

On Sunday we had an amazing Big rehearsal in Halifax. It was six hours of beautiful music and hard work. Over 500 singers there and that's not even everyone yet. Can't wait to hear it all put together.
Arrived safely

After some flight delays in Orlando and Tampa, we finally arrived in Atlanta and as mentioned a week or so ago, I did enjoy some Mexican food before getting on the plane. It was delicious!

John met us at the airport and got us all loaded on the bus. We headed to Leeds where Linda, Steve, Laraine and John's parents met us at the hotel.

It took awhile to get everyone settled in and most folks went off exploring in Leeds. After traveling all night I know everyone will rest well.

We are enjoying the cool weather and a rare chance for us Floridians to wear our jackets!
